On November 3rd and 4th the NWTF again teamed up with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and the Sutter County Fish and Game Commission to host a youth and women’s pheasant hunt on the Nelson Slough Unit of the Feather River Wildlife Area. While the California State Chapter helped to purchase 1/3 of the pheasants for the hunt, the Butte county Strutting Rio’s and Sutter Butte’s local chapters helped to provide volunteers for the event, food, and refreshments. The hunts were a resounding success with over 140 participants throughout the weekend, many harvesting their first ever pheasants! We’d like to thank everyone that helped to make this event come together, and look forward to growing participation in this pheasant hunt every year. Be sure to look for it next year when the hunts become available online. Save the Habitat. Save the Hunt!
